Can you even believe it’s time for the preschool Graduation? Seems like we just had preschool graduation and now its graduation time again. At Anna’s Bananas, we often have fun looking back at the kids who are graduating and remembering them in the infant room! Time fly’s when you’re having fun.. right!!Hmmmm …wonder if they will grow up and remember the fun days they had at Anna’s Bananas? I tell my staff they will… I hope! I can remember the way my preschool teachers hands felt (sooooooo cold) on my skin when she would PIN those notes to my shirt for my parents to read. What was with the pin? Not sure how safe that was… but they figured if the note was physically pined to our bodies our parents would read them. Now… as far as the notes go… don’t worry -all good reports! Hehehe! I like to tell a story to my staff about a time in preschool I experienced so they all are reminded EVERYTHING we say and do will stay with the children for as long as they live. So it goes something like this… all the children were in circle time, the teacher instructs all the children “when the music starts everyone run in place” well… the music started and I start running… all over the room, faster and faster, darting in between all the kids, circling around the teacher then realizing… no one else is running, just me! The music stops, the teacher yells out “great children… Anna ruined it for everyone!” I was devastated! So embarrassed… I had no idea what running in place was and I wanted to cry. Something so simple left me feeling so bad. I could not help it and I started to cry, then my best friend, Jimmy Mckenzie, started running all over the room too just to make me feel better. The teacher knew I was feeling bad and she then made the announcement for everyone to run all over the room. The classroom turned in to giggle factory and suddenly I went from the “embarrassed kid” that the kids were laughing at to the fun kid who everyone was laughing with and the whole classroom came to life! I guess the lesson from this is simple. Children are absorbing everything we say and do. We must be careful how we quick react…and we need to live life on the fun side… Running all over was much more fun than running in place Mrs. Baker, now wasn’t it…Thank you!Happy Preschool Graduation Kids and I wish you tons of FUN days ahead at Kindergarten!
